The 5th AI EXPO Taiwan 2026 was led by DIGITIMES, in collaboration with co-hosts including IC Broadcasting, Chung Yuan Christian University College of Intelligent Computing and Quantum Information, National Development Council, and Taipei Expo Foundation. The event was further supported by partners including the Taipei City Government Education Department, the New Taipei City Government Youth Department, the AI on Chip Taiwan Alliance, the Artificial Intelligence Technology Foundation, GOOD Inc., and DailyView. Bringing together key resources across industry, government, academia, and research, the exhibition successfully concluded on March 27.
This event reached a new milestone in scale — bringing together more than 300 companies and brands, nearly 60 universities and AI research centers, along with over 100 community partners and creators to amplify its impact. The exhibition attracted nearly 50,000 professionals and industry decision-makers, setting a new all-time attendance record.
AI EXPO Taiwan 2026 also partnered with social impact organizations including the Eden Social Welfare Foundation and Child Welfare League Foundation, while connecting with global exhibition partners including AI EXPO KOREA, TECH WEEK SINGAPORE, and BUSINESS GOVIRTUAL HONG KONG to build an international AI ecosystem and elevate Taiwan onto the global stage.
AI EXPO Taiwan continues to strengthen its role as a key industry hub — uniting technology, applications, and decision-making power to drive AI from trend to implementation, becoming a vital accelerator for enterprises shaping the future.
National Attention on the Critical Turning Point
of the AI Industry
Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim attended the event in person, participating in guided booth tours and visiting multiple leading AI enterprises to gain firsthand insight into the latest innovations. From policy vision to industrial implementation, AI EXPO Taiwan has become a key platform advancing Taiwan’s technological transformation.
Rather than becoming the dominant 1%, Taiwan should strive to become the irreplaceable 9% within the global value chain.
In the winner-takes-all AI landscape, Taiwan leverages its semiconductor strength — surpassing Japan, Korea, Europe, and China — to embed itself deeply into the global supply chain. By becoming an “irreplaceable supporting force”, Taiwan is building a resilient hardware ecosystem amid systemic transformation.

AI EXPO Taiwan: Taiwan’s Most Important AI Industry Gathering
Taipei City introduced Taiwan’s first AI Governance Guidelines, establishing a framework for responsible innovation. From improving 1999 citizen hotline efficiency by 90% to reducing emergency response times by 14 critical minutes, the practical implementation of AI is already delivering measurable impact and saving lives.

Quantum computers are not simply faster computers — they are microscopes for understanding the microscopic world.
The true value of quantum technology lies in opening entirely new dimensions of discovery, allowing humanity to “see” scientific frontiers that were previously impossible to compute. Through the integration of GPUs and QPUs, quantum computing can leverage tunneling effects to overcome the local optimization limits of traditional AI — fundamentally evolving computation from “simulated intelligence” into “quantum-native intelligence” capable of finding global optimal solutions and driving paradigm shifts in real-world applications.

The challenge is no longer cost reduction — it is the explosive growth in usage.
As token costs decline, application scenarios and reasoning lengths will expand exponentially. With AI inference shifting toward memory-bound architectures, hardware priorities must be redefined. Memory bandwidth and performance-per-watt will become the decisive indicators of AI competitiveness over the next three years.

People never truly consume technology; they consume emotional experiences.
Technology can save time, but only entertainment can make people stay. AI is not competing against humanity — it extends emotional connection beyond the limitations of time zones and physical distance, preserving the sensory experiences that matter most in an efficiency-driven era.

In an Era Obsessed With Efficiency, Don’t Forget Human Warmth
“Salt crystallizes through sunlight; people become clear through reflection.”
As technology pushes efficiency to its limits, humanity must preserve time for reflection, rediscovering the value of empathy and connection. The ultimate purpose of technological advancement is not replacement, but helping us rediscover the texture of the real world.
